New Features & Enhancements
🔗 LMS Integration
Embedded Launch Inside the LMS
Webassessor assessments now launch correctly when the LMS is configured to embed the tool in the page, which is the default launch mode in Canvas, Moodle, and Blackboard. Candidates stay within the course and no longer need the assessment to open in a separate browser tab.
Automatic Grade Pass Back to the LMS Gradebook
When a candidate completes an exam launched from an LMS, the score is now posted to the course gradebook automatically, so instructors no longer export results from Webassessor or enter them by hand.
-
The score is written to the gradebook column supplied by the LMS at launch
-
If the LMS did not supply a column at launch, Webassessor requests or creates one before submitting the score
-
A failed submission is logged with enough detail for investigation and does not affect the candidate's result in Webassessor
Action Required: LTI configuration, including gradebook permissions, requires administrator setup per client region. Contact your CSM for guidance.
🔐 Authentication & SSO
Admin Just-in-Time Provisioning with Role Claims
OIDC single sign-on for the Admin module now supports role-specific claims and automatic account creation.
-
The identity provider can send a specific administrator role name, such as Item Writer, and Webassessor maps it to the matching admin role for the session
-
When admin Just-in-Time provisioning is enabled and a valid mapped role is present, an administrator account is created on first sign-in, following the same rules that apply when an administrator is added manually
-
Site Administrator accounts are excluded from automatic creation and continue to be created by Kryterion administrators only
-
Candidate single sign-on and candidate Just-in-Time provisioning are unchanged
Action Required: Admin Just-in-Time provisioning requires administrator setup per client region, including role claim mapping. Contact your CSM for guidance.
OIDC Token Revocation After Sign-In
Webassessor now revokes the access and refresh tokens it receives from the identity provider immediately after a successful OIDC sign-in, so unused tokens do not remain valid for their full lifetime. Tokens are not retained. This applies automatically with no configuration change required.
🎯 Proctoring & Exam Security
Front and Back Capture of Physical IDs
Pre-check now captures both sides of a government-issued physical ID, so identity details that appear only on the reverse of a card are available for verification.
-
Candidates are guided through the front capture and then the back capture in sequence and cannot proceed until both are captured successfully
-
Existing image quality validation applies to both captures, and the Physical ID section now shows separate Front ID and Back ID entries
-
Digital IDs continue to require a single capture
🧠 AI & Item Writing
AI Sources File Picker for Multiple Item Generation
Multiple item generation now draws reference material from the AI Sources library instead of the legacy media file browser.
-
Authors select up to two previously uploaded AI Sources documents for the client region they are working in, and the selection is retained
-
Generation uses those documents directly, without re-uploading them on each request, because they were indexed when they finished uploading
Refinement of Document-Grounded Items
Items generated from an AI Sources document can now be refined with the Modify action, which was previously unavailable on document-grounded items. Single item generation behavior is unchanged.
Client and Region Selection on Upload
Administrators who manage more than one client can now choose the client and region before uploading to AI Sources, and the upload is filed against that selection. When no selection is made, the upload defaults to the administrator's own client region.
AI Sources Menu Visibility
The AI Sources menu now appears only where the complete capability is available, so partially enabled regions no longer see the entry.
CSM-Enabled: AI Sources and multiple item generation are gated by feature flags and are not active by default. Contact your CSM to discuss enablement.
⚙️ Certification Management
Catalog Sourcing in the Admin Module
When a client region is configured to use Certification Management as the system of record, the admin catalog is now sourced from Certification Management, so administrators and candidates see the same certification types, eligible exams, and status information. Regions that are not configured this way continue to use the existing catalog with no change in behavior.
CSM-Enabled: Certification Management capabilities are gated by a feature flag and are not active by default. Contact your CSM to discuss enablement.
Fixes & Resolved Issues
|
Severity |
Area |
What Was Fixed |
|
High |
Test Delivery |
Escalations intended for a CSA-Tech were routed to another proctor, and repeated automatic assignment entries filled session transcripts, making sessions difficult to audit |
|
Medium |
Proctor Experience |
Signed-in KCP accounts showed a clipped dark mode control during an exam, proctor instructions displayed raw URLs instead of linked text, and scheduled assessments were listed out of date order with no way to sort by exam date |
|
Medium |
Certification Management |
HTML tags appeared in the exam description and the tooltip text differed when Certification Management was enabled |
|
Medium |
Integrations |
Score data for some completed registrations was not delivered to the client webhook, and the affected transcripts held no score |
